SPIRIT Delivers Industry Lectures During TI Developers' Conference
Nov 27, 2002
During the last week, SPIRIT group of companies, a leading developer and exporter of digital telephony software, delivered a series of technical lectures for Internet telephony system developers on European TI Developers' Conference, which took place in Birmingham, Paris, and Munich.
European TI Developers' Conference is a week-long road-show, the most competent European conference dedicated to modern solutions and trends in DSP (digital signal processing) area. It opened on November 11 in Birmingham, after which it was continued in Paris and Munich. This was the first public enterprise conducted by TI in multiple European cities, in order to achieve better understanding of their customers' needs.
Current industry trends were mainly covered by personnel of Texas Instruments (TI). SPIRIT was one of the seven independent companies (and the only company from Russia) invited by TI to deliver a series of lectures during the conference, thanks to SPIRIT's vast experience in digital telephony and voice/data integration areas.
The conference was divided into 6 major sessions, one of them dedicated to telephony. SPIRIT's technical experts read their materials in three cities. Total audience of TI Developer Conference amounted to 750 persons, including 550 representatives of equipment manufacturing companies (i.e. potential customers).
"SPIRIT's technical experts were invited to give their reports on SPIRIT CST (client-side telephony) platform, which significantly simplifies programming, development and testing of software solutions in the area of digital telephony and Voice over IP. SPIRIT created an open platform - CST telephony framework - which serves as a basis for finished solutions to be designed by independent software manufacturers", said Andrew Sviridenko, President of SPIRIT group of companies. Target applications for digital telephony software and Voice over IP are: telephony systems, point-of-sale outlets and kiosks, set-top boxes, credit card and check verification systems, security systems, industrial monitoring systems and meters, payphones, voice recorders, internet appliances, voice / data access points and digital answering machines".
SPIRIT group of companies works on Russian computer market for 10 years, its primary activities being development and licensing of hi-tech software to major international customers. SPIRIT is completely export-oriented, 100% of its profit obtained from software export deals. SPIRIT is a strategic partner of Texas Instruments (TI) which holds about 50% of worldwide DSP chip market. SPIRIT signed with TI the biggest software product licensing deal a Russian software company ever made - SPIRIT's digital telephony software is bundled with C54, TI's most popular processor, with SPIRIT receiving royalties per sold chip. SPIRIT has among its clients such telecommunication market leaders as Atmel, Furuno, Japan Radio Company (JRC), Leica, NEC, Nortel Networks, Panasonic, Samsung Electronics, Texas Instruments, Toshiba, and more.
Software developed by SPIRIT is used in over 50 countries worldwide.
According to A.Korotkov, the first deputy minister of communication and informatization, SPIRIT is one of four Russian IT brands best known on the international market, together with Abbyy, Kaspersky, and Parallel Graphics. ("Expert" magazine #40 (347), 28.10.02)
