Oct 29, 2008
St. Petersburg, October 29th, 2008 - Spb Software, world's leading Windows Mobile applications developer, announces first commercial implementation of its Spb Online - a set of premium online services for 3G networks, designed to stimulate subscriber uptake of streaming content on handsets. In close cooperation with Sky Link - Russia's largest CDMA mobile operator - Spb Software delivered SkyTouch - a customized Spb Mobile Shell-based UI solution, integrated with Spb Online and tuned to local preferences of SkyLink subscribers. SkyTouch comes preinstalled on Sky Link's new 3G-smartphone AnyData ASP-505, and acts as a clear single entry point to device features and an array of advanced online services, ranging from Mobile TV, to online games, to local GPS-based navigation, to popular social networks.
The AnyData ASP-505 is expected to hit the vast Russian market in the beginning of November, taking advantage of the fast-paces roll-out of next-generation mobile networks by Sky Link. "Today, 80% of our subscribers get access to mobile internet with USB-modems and only 20% of them browse the Internet from their handsets. Our new smartphone, fitted with SkyTouch by Spb Software, targets this growing segment of customers, by turning their handsets into very user-friendly, powerful, but compact mobile Internet-centers. Being a leader in fast-growing Russian market of mobile Internet, SkyLink has made the next step forward to offer its subscribers the best services and products," - comments Albert Safiullin, Deputy Director in Commerce, CJSC Sky Link.
"I believe that Sky Link, as one of the most innovative players on the Russian mobile communications market, is strategically right by offering subscribers not just devices equipped with fast Internet access, but devices with preinstalled online services, which facilitate the use of such fast access," - comments Vassili Philippov, Spb Software House COO.
In less than a month of open market presence, Spb Online supported over 1,000,000 of Mobile TV viewing sessions, over 160,000 Online Games sessions, in over 50 countries.
