The software and implementation service share of the Russian IT market is growing steadily having exceeded 44% in 2007, Leonid Reiman, the Minister of IT and Communications reported at a board session of the RF Ministry of IT and Communications.

According to the minister, in 2007 the software market value reached 80 bln rubles ($3.232 bln), which is a 40% increase as compared to 2006. The significant increase in demand for software and implementation services inside Russia recorded in 2007 relates to a large extent to the initial market saturation and development of projects on implementing management systems in the medium and small business.

Leonid Reiman also says that development of domestic software production might help to occupy the leading positions in the world innovative economy. Russia possesses all the necessary prerequisites for such a breakthrough, the minister highlights. He says software development is currently the only sector in IT, which demonstrates stable growth rate of export. Domestic enterprises are successfully competing in the niche of comprehensive solutions, such, for example, as transport management systems and aircraft simulators, Leonid Reiman concludes.
