Oct 28, 2003
The new test lab for testing the software of various mobile devices, primarily Motorola phones, has been announced officially opened in Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University, NGTU. This lab has been created and sponsored by Telma and based in Industrial Computer Science department of NGTU. Its total headcount is 15 test engineers.

The opening event has hosted officials from both NGTU and Telma, as well as Motorola managers and representatives of Nizhny Novgorod local administration and parliament.

This software test lab is not the first project initiated by Telma and NGTU. In early 2003 Telma created Software Test Design Center, also on NGTU premises. Students engaged in this project have gotten and opportunity to acquire unique experience in software testing and become skilled in today's technologies. So the newly opened test lab is yet another step towards creating a solid foundation of highly skilled IT personnel in Nizhny Novgorod. In order to achieve this goal, the Special faculty, or department, has been created in NGTU. The students in this department get trained according to a special program, with certain disciplines replaced with special computer science studies. At graduation they will get a certificate reflecting the specifics of the education they received. Telma is going to be providing ten best students of this department with personal grants.

NGTU students are going to be working at the lad or in Design Center starting from the second grade. But first they are to undergo 2 interviews. First interview is going to be conducted by NGTU council, then students are interviewed and examined by Telma management. This is going to be quite an exam when each student is to be reviewed from standpoint of their technical skills, knowledge of English, personal characteristics and ability to learn.

For Telma such initiatives became the most perspective way of preparing the skilled personnel for its teamwork. Professional experience that students get at both test lab and Design center allows them to become Telma employees upon graduation.
