Starting from July 1, 2016, loaded containers intended for sea voyage must be accompanied with a prepared load shipping VGM (verified gross mass) certificate. If no such certificate exists, this container cannot be loaded onto the vessel for shipment. Enter Solvo.VGM, a new module used for automatic checking of containers with accounting of SOLAS requirements prior to shipping. VGM control is performed in accordance with the new IMO requirements updated at the international SOLAS convention.

For details about the new SOLVO requirements, read the new article about SOLVO in issue No.26, Transport Russia magazine, 2016.

The new requirements affect all market participants such as, for example, container terminals, which must introduce significant changes to their business processes as well as services, purchase weighing equipment, etc.

It is evident that to ensure a smooth transition to the new system and reduce the number of new operations and document flow, a corresponding IT infrastructure and software is needed that will support vessel container loading with VGM, account for the arrival and transfer of containers at the terminal, automatically create weighing tasks for operators, etc.

One example of this functionality is the new Solvo.TOS module: Solvo.VGM, which makes it possible to control VGM container data and does not allow loading of containers who do not have this data.

In particular, Solvo.TOS controls the availability of VGM data, plans container loading onto the vessel with consideration of VGM, monitors containers without VGM at any stage of arrival at the terminal, and signals to notify the dispatcher in the event of any inconsistencies.
