Samara and Finland pool resources in start-up development

Special emphasis will be put on the commercialization of scientific projects and tech transfer

Aug 28, 2014
The Regional Innovation Center in Samara, in the mid-Volga region, and the Miktech Innovation Center in Finland’s Mikkeli, in the Southern Savonia region, have inked an MoU, the Presidential Council for Economic Modernization and Innovation Development of Russia announced.

The partners are expected to work towards developing and adapting their respective start-ups’ events and projects for the international markets, and also towards supporting mutual innovation infrastructure efforts.

"We are hoping to start exchanging experience and technology projects with organizations and companies in the Samara region. This will support the development of our start-ups and tech transfer and will hopefully translate in broader cooperation between the two regions," said Miktech’s Ville Paasonen.

According to Sergei Bogdanov of the Regional Innovation Center in Samara, "already in September several Samara start-ups are going to Helsinki and Mikkeli for training. In addition, we’re discussing ways of bringing Finnish companies to the Samara region for work."
