The future website will be reportedly designed to reflect the main features that analogous services offer abroad. The Russian government authority is said to believe that the new social network will enable teachers to discuss pertinent legislation and educational issues, and also share experience.
In the prospective network, to solely be accessed by teachers, there will be a forum venue for pedagogues to communicate and a library media center. The latter is expected to contain information about new regulations and norms, educational standards, new educational and methodological literature, and training programs. With the Ministry behind the project development (and future maintenance) the users may expect all the data there to be verified and up-to-date.
Russia already has about 40 virtual teachers’ associations, including the Union of Methodological Communities (center.fio.ru), the All-Russian Pedagogical Internet Council (pedsovet.alledu.ru) or the Internet is a State of Teachers (www.intergu.ru). However, the newly announced project is the first-ever to be masterminded and promoted by the government.
