The scientists came together to celebrate the third anniversary of the MIT-Skoltech Initiative and share their news regarding research and trends in biomedicine, energy, material science and other fields of knowledge, and also to discuss various entrepreneurship strategies.
The symposium was organized by MIT and the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech). The partnership dates back to 2011 when the Massachusetts Institute of Technology joined in the long term strategy of designing, developing and implementing educational and R&D programs, innovation activity and the internationalization of the teaching staff at Skoltech, its joint project with the Skolkovo Foundation.
Jeffrey Sexton, head of Public Affairs section at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, underscored in his opening words that in today’s world, no country can exist in isolation, and to what extent and with what countries it can collaborate could now become a new indicator for success. This has already been of much use for the United States, and the U.S.’ bilateral relations with Russia in this field continue to strengthen, the official emphasized. "At the moment, programs such as the MIT-Skolkovo initiative in the field of sciences become more important than ever before," he said.
