On the 12th of April 2005 Mikhail Gorbachev will participate in Massachusetts Software Council (www.masoftware.org) as the keynote speaker. He will address the industry on the Role of Information Technologies in the Global Economy. In April 2005 it will be 20 years from the time when perestroika (governmental restructuring), started; moreover, on April 12 the Russian Federation celebrates the Day of Cosmonautics. These facts are bound to stimulate an interest of the auditory to the speech of the Former President of the Soviet Union. As a result, it will draw more attention to Russian companies participating in the Council, which will have a unique opportunity to demonstrate their skills and services to the new wide business audience.

Massachusetts Software Council (MSC) is the leading industrial Association of the New England. It has collaborated with RUSSOFT on several programs beginning in 2001. To further enhance the relationship, the Council signed an Agreement of Cooperation with RUSSOFT in April of 2003. MSC members meetings are hold once per half a year. These significant events attract several hundreds of CEOs.
The last Council gathered 700 people and the key-note speaker was Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO.

Mr. Gorbachev, although taken by many Russian as an odious person, is possibly the most popular politician for the business community of the USA. It is he who may attract the attention of American businessmen to Russia and to emphasize outstanding achievements of Russian IT companies. For a long time RUSSOFT and the Gorbachev Fund were looking for the best ways of contribution to Russian IT companies development. By the way, the Gorbachev Fund pays special attention to IT sector. In particular, it launched the High Technologies Foundation Gorbachev Project to support and promote Russian software developing companies. When Gorbachev agreed to a request from the Russian software industry to give a major speech in the United States, the Council was chosen to host the event and to partner with other American organizations in highlighting the growing Russian software industry.
