U.S. - Russia ICT Roundtable Furthers Bush-Putin Agenda
Jan 11, 2003
Foster City, CA, January 9, 2003 - U.S. Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans and Russian Minister of Telecommunications Leonid Reiman will keynote the next meeting of the U.S.-Russian ICT Roundtable, to be held on February 20 at the Marriott Hotel in San Mateo, CA. Senior business executives from the leading U.S. and Russian ICT companies will also be on hand to share the latest market intelligence and to discuss bilateral technology partnerships.
The Roundtable is being held under the umbrella of the Russian-American Business Dialogue, a private-sector effort designed to strengthen the economic and commercial relationship between the U.S. and Russia. The creation of this business-to-business mechanism was announced by U.S. President George W. Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin in July 2001. It is led by two American and two Russian umbrella trade associations: the U.S.-Russia Business Council, the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and the Russian-American Business Council.
In a joint statement, Andrew Somers, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, and Eugene Lawson, President of the U.S.-Russia Business Council, emphasized that the event is part of an ongoing strategy to advance U.S.-Russian trade and investment in the IT sector. "The Russian-American Technology Roundtable series continues to fulfill an important role in developing bilateral business synergies, and we are glad to be part of it," they said. "Based on the overwhelming response to the previous events, we will be creating additional networking and information-sharing opportunities to complement the panel discussions on important policy issues-we're working to ensure that the event offers real value to those interested in sales and investment opportunities in the Russian I.T. and telecommunications sectors."
The event would not be possible without the coordination and assistance of our sponsors, and we are pleased to be associated with the leaders of our industry," said Maxim Meyer , Vice President of the Moscow-based Foundation for the Development of Information Technology, a co-organizer of the event. The roundtable is sponsored by Cisco, Qualcomm, Intel, Ernst and Young, and Mirantis. Space is limited. Reservations may be confirmed by contacting Gary Fowler of Mirantis ([email protected], 650-286-9250) or Jeff Jones at the U.S.-Russia Business Council ([email protected], 202-739-9190).
