Nortel Networks and MERA: a New Landmark in Collaboration

November 17, 2004. - MERA Networks, a forefront Russian software development outsourcing company and Nortel Networks' long-standing Russian partner, has announced a new joint project with Nortel Networks, the world-leading telecom equipment manufacturer. Under the project, MERA will provide a complete suite of support services to the OMC-R (Operations and Maintenance Center Platform-Radio Part), Nortel Networks' product for control of GSM networks.
The project was launched in May, 2004. As early as in a month's time, by June, MERA started providing 3rd and 4th level support to all OMC-R commercial releases. In September 2004, for the first time in the over-a-decade-long collaboration with Nortel Networks, MERA becomes the provider of a full set of support services, including 2nd level support and interaction with customers. The importance of MERA's comprehensive high-quality services cannot be overestimated, since OMC-R is one of Nortel Networks' key elements of BSS portfolio deployed by carriers worldwide.
The partnership of Nortel Networks and MERA Networks began in 1991 with an R&D contract in the domain of antenna measurement. In 1993 MERA became Nortel Networks' software development, sustenance and testing partner. Two years later, in 1995, MERA received the status of Nortel Networks' authorized supplier in this field.
Over the years of collaboration (1991 - 2004) MERA successfully accomplished ten full-scale projects in product development for mobile carriers (GSM, UMTS, CDMA) and other telecom service providers. Today, MERA is engaged in eight Nortel Networks' projects focused on the most forefront IT spheres, with the total headcount of 400+ engineers.
