Arcadia Has 15-Year Anniversary!

Arcadia Inc., one of the leading Russian providers of consulting services and software development services for the international clientele has 15-year anniversary this year. The company was founded by Arcady Khotin in March, 1993 and is one of the first IT-companies in Saint-Petersburg.
Arcadia has its 15-year anniversary in 2008. We would like to express our gratitude to those people who contributed a lot into the formation and development of the company and helped the company to occupy that important position at the market that it possesses today. Our success would be impossible without your support and experience! We thank those people who founded the company 15 years ago; those who worked for the first projects – Kouklev Vadim, Rytov Alexey, Petrov Gennadiy, Reshetnikov Andrey, Gylchonok Konstantin; our first chief accountant Evstigneeva Tatiana, our designer Khotina Anna. We thank those who joined Arcadia team in one or two years after its foundation: Uvarov Alexander, Viktorov Dmitry, Agarkov Vadim, Kashkevich Sergey, Alexeev Oleg, Kvasova Larisa, Elfimov Leonid, Ivanov Yuriy, Starkov Alexander, Kovalenko Olga, Kuzikov Daniil, Glazova Tatiana, Alexeev Andrey, Varvarkina Anna, Voronin Vladislav, Paperno Alexander, Boyko Sergey, Vinogradov Dmitry, Sergeev Anton, Entin Grigory... In 5 years the number of arcadians increased to 75. Among those are arcadians who celebrate 10th year work anniversary in Arcadia: Baklan Sergey, Elfimova Natalia, Alentieva Ludmila, Larionov Dnitry, Shitarev Sergey, Kolesnik Mikhail, Gorjakina Yulia, Ganul Olga, Dukshin Anton, Vinokurov Andrey, Doroshin Andrey and Sokornov Nick. There are more than 140 professionals who work in Arcadia today. 340 people contributed into the company’s business during its 15-year history.
The history of Arcadia is the history of success. Undoubtedly, we faced a lot of difficulties on our way to it. Together we had overcome all the obstacles and became a united team with the common goal. We are proud of the sincere and friendly relationships between our employees. The company was established on the 9th of March in 1993 by Arcady Khotin. He is one of the first entrepreneurs in Saint-Petersburg in the hi-tech sphere who succeeded using plentiful opportunities that emerged in post soviet period in Russia. By setting up an outsourcing company performing software development services for the international clients in that complicated and critical period of the Russian history, he managed to create employment for a lot of highly qualified professionals: engineers, programmers and analysts.
Arcady Khotin graduated from St. Petersburg State Academy of Aerospace Instrumentation and obtained a solid work experience in software development, for approximately 20 years he was working as a programmer and project manager, as a director for software development in one of the first joint Russian-American venture "Dialog" where more than 100 programmers were under his supervision.
The newly created company Arcadia consisted of just 5 employees and was located on Khlopina Street,2. The start was difficult, but the experience and the entrepreneurial gift of the company founders played an important part in the establishment and the development of the company.
The first projects were mainly small accounting business applications. The employees of Arcadia were gradually deepening their knowledge in performing of such orders and in a rather short period of time they had obtained a very rare competence in the development of business applications. The increasing flow of international customers became a good indicator of the successful work of the young company.
Bennet-Tec Information Systems, Inc. (USA), operating in selling add-on tools for Visual Studio 6.0 and Visual Studio.NET was our first international customer. Arcadia works with this company for 15 years in a row and values these trust relationship immeasurably.
1998 – Sergei Baklan becomes the Managing Director of the company
Having a considerable work experience in such global corporations of aviation industry like "Klimov Corporation" and Russian division of Pratt & Whitney Canada, where he was responsible for aviation certification and IT management and also served as Engineering Representative of Aviation Registry, Sergei transformed Arcadia from a development laboratory to a strong commercial software development organization.
Mr. Baklan brings to Arcadia a strong track record of leadership in global high-tech companies and good knowledge of how big corporations work. Sergei’s strong management and people skills helped Arcadia to become a leading contractor for many world-level software houses in Finland, Scandinavia, and the US.
1999 – The establishment of the RusSoft organization
Arcadia along with other 9 leading companies from Russia founded an all-Russian software consortium called Fort-Ross and Arcady Khotin became one of its vice presidents. Being merged with the Association of Russian software development companies in 2004, Fort-Ross was transformed into a non-profitable partnership RusSoft.
2000 – Arcadia++ foundation, the beginning of cooperation with the Leningrad Institute of Mechanics and Optics
The top-management of the company decides to establish an IT recruiting agency Arcadia++ in order to provide employment to talented programmers from Saint-Petersburg. The company has been successfully operating for 8 years already. It helps Russian and international companies to find highly qualified personnel in the conditions of the increasing human resources shortage.
In 2000 Arcadia started to conduct training programs for the students of the Leningrad Institute of Mechanics and Optics (now Saint-Petersburg State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics). This cooperation lasts to present day: the students do practical work in testing as quality engineers. According to the results of the training young specialists have an opportunity to join Arcadia team and become our employees.
2002 – Ardin Software Oy (Vantaa, Finland) begins to represent Arcadia at Scandinavian market. The cooperation with the Polytechnic University
Scandinavia gradually became the key market for Arcadia. It is conditioned by the geographical and cultural closeness of the Northern Europe. Scandinavia possesses highly developed infrastructure and solid experience in the ICT sphere and plays the role of a peculiar "window to Europe" for the Russian IT-companies creating the necessary prerequisites for the initiation of fruitful partnership between Russian and international customers.
The year 2002 was also marked by the beginning of cooperation with other old university of Petersburg – Saint-Petersburg State Technical University. Every year Arcadia provides training programs for the students of the university with a perspective of a job offer for the best ones.
2004 – Scandinavian Group foundation
Ardin Software Oy united over 30 independent IT-vendors into a non-profitable association named Scandinavian Group. ScG is a community of domestic IT-companies oriented at the Scandinavian market. The coordinators of the Group are located in Helsinki, Finland and Saint-Petersburg, Russia. ScG was officially presented at Russian Software Outsourcing Summit 2004 in Saint-Petersburg. The initiator of ScG is Arcadia Inc.
2006 - Expanding of Mobile Monday event from Helsinki to St.Petersburg
