Dec 21, 2011
The event brought together key agents on the local IT market including investors, business leaders, and government and trade association representatives to gauge the results of the past 20 years, while looking forward to the prospects for the continued development of the Russian software industry as a whole.
Looking back at the beginnings of the industry, RUSSOFT President Valentin Makarov said, "It was a bold challenge at a time when production had virtually ceased, food was rationed, and people were queuing in shops for food and basic necessities. At this time there were leaders who began to engage in global competition in a field that is now called the innovation economy."
Over the intervening decades, many Russian companies have gone on to become recognized global leaders in the ICT industry. Among those in attendance at the St. Petersburg event were representatives of Kodeks; VoIP solutions provider SoftJoys; Reksoft and Lanit-Tercom, both top-100 ranked world leading software and engineering service providers; First Line Software; and PROMT, a leading developer of automated translation.
