Russians work to boost IT security for BRICS countries

The invGUARD protection system is expected to be able to detect and block DDoS attacks in the web, and also filter malware generated traffic without affecting users’ legitimate traffic.

Inoventica and T8, Russian IT developers, are pooling efforts in a pilot project aimed at creating an integrated backbone communications lines protection system, the Skolkovo Foundation website reported.

Inoventica is one of Russia’s pioneers in cloud computing; T8 is focused on the development and commercialization of DWDM and CWDM systems.

The project is reportedly being carried out on an Inoventica backbone link and consists of two major components. One is a T8-made DWDM transmission system with a bandwidth of 100Gbit/sec; the other is the invGUARD, a protection solution developed by Inoventica Technologies, an Inoventica subsidiary.

The invGUARD protection system is expected to be able to detect and block DDoS attacks in the web, and also filter malware generated traffic without affecting users’ legitimate traffic.

The new solutions may be used to enhance IT infrastructure security in the BRICS countries [BRICS is a group of five developing countries, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—Editor’s note], in the domestic market, and also in any other interested country, Inoventica believes.

Vitaly Slizen, a board member at Inoventica, hopes the Russian Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications will provide ample support for the new effort.
