There is expected to be a major global shift to IT outsourcing over the next decade, new research has suggested.
According to a study carried out by independent research firm Vanson Bourne, it is predicted nearly two-thirds of IT infrastructure will be outsourced by 2020.
The annual report showed the number of companies expected to shift towards managed services will elevate from 17 per cent to 64 per cent in this time.
More than 600 IT and business decision-makers from enterprises and public sector organisations in the UK, the US and Singapore took part in the investigation.
In the UK, it was forecast in-house IT infrastructure would drop from 90 per cent to 23 per cent in ten years, while it has been calculated the US and Singapore will witness reductions of 33 and 24 per cent respectively.
