Sep 01, 2004
RUSSEE organized the first visit to Moscow of the SEI CMM co-founder Mark Paulk, which will take place during 25-29 of October 2004. Mark Paulk will conduct in Moscow 3 unique seminar sessions, which are to become one of the most significant events in Russian software development industry in 2004.
Mark is a Senior Systems Scientist at the Institute for Software Research International (ISRI) in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, USA) (www.cmu.edu). Mark's current research interests center on high maturity practices, he is currently working on topics related to the eSourcing Capability Model (eSCM) and IT-enabled services for ISRI. From 1987 to 2002, Mark was with the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon. He was the project leader during the development of the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) for Software. Mark Paulk is Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Among his achievements - more than 100 scientific publications on software development, he was an invited speaker at various SEPG conferences. Mark Paulk will bring to Russia latest Carnegie Mellon research results, such as CMMi, AGILE methodologies, the ISO 9000 family of quality management system standards and the ISO 15504 standard, which is being developed for software process assessment.
The Seminars, which are intended for experts and managers of all levels will provide the audience with the overview of latest tendencies in software process and quality improvement, outsourcing, higher maturity levels and CMMi implementation in small organizations.
CMM/CMMi certification is one of the most relevant criteria in choosing the contractor. High maturity level ensures measurability, controllability and predictability of the company's internal software processes. About 15 Russian software companies are CMMi certified and the number of certifications will grow at least twice as much in 2004-2005, some experts say. According to Market-Visio/Gartner survey conducted, 81% of Russian software companies planned to be certified in 2002.
