The round table entitled "Offshore Outsourcing Is Yesterday’s Story - Start Thinking About Global Delivery" brought together more than 25 media representatives from business and trade editions across Europe. The session participants outlined the major trends that are causing the transformation from the simply offshore "bodyshopping" to a much more sophisticated, fully global delivery model.

Alexander Egorov was invited to join the session to provide his insight into the outsourcing opportunities for companies in Russia. He stressed that the EU accession has affected IT markets Central and Eastern Europe and although the new member states have mature IT markets and offer investors political and economic stability, the other side of the coin, however, is the growing cost of IT services. Therefore, IT suppliers from non-EU countries - primarily Russia - will gain a significant share of European IT outsourcing.

"The greatest asset of offshore IT outsourcing in any country is the high quality and abundance of technical specialists, and Russia ranks among the leaders in this respect. An emphasis on mathematics gives graduates from Russian universities a strong foundation for dealing with new problem domains and technically challenging tasks. Mastery of quantitative concepts, coupled with English proficiency, has resulted in a skill set that will enable Russia to take advantage of the current international demand for IT", he said.
