Over the last 5-10 years, Russia has carved out a reputation as a country with a large number of high-quality professionals in the software development sector. These professionals existed 20 years ago, but due to immature industry they were merely neglected, unable to demonstrate their talents on the world arena. Links between Russian professionals and the outside world began to form only in the last decade.

In a relatively short period of time, Russia has become a notable supplier on the world market of software development. Data from leading analytical agencies show that India is in first place in the sphere, with several countries - including Russia - vying for second place.
