Third Annual Survey on Russian Export Software Market

Company Recognition

In recent years, Russian companies have regularly figured in various ratings based on detailed analysis of information of sectoral companies. Of most importance are factors that affect long-term outsourcing success from a client's point of view and are most often used when choosing a contractor. These include factors such as experience and range of services, previous clients' references, links to successful projects, certification to global quality management standards, as well as investment in HR and education, business process administration systems, and an experienced senior management team.

The Global Outsourcing 100 carried out by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) ranks Luxoft, EPAM Systems, DataArt, Aplana Software, and MERA Networks as being among the world's top 100 companies offering outsourcing services in the IT sector and outsourcing of business processes. The companies were named among the most promising in the Rising Stars category.

Research carried out in 2005 by CMP-CyberMedia's Global Services Magazine and consulting company NeoIT rated EPAM Systems, IBA Group (Byeloeussia), Luxoft and Auriga as the top four in its Top 5 to Watch in Central and Eastern Europe.

The Offshore 100 List 2005 included Novosibirsk's CTGroup Software alongside established Russian leaders from Moscow and St. Petersburg for the first time. Auriga Inc., EPAM Systems, LUXOFT and Reksoft – are ranked in the Global Services 100 List 2006.

The list of Russian outsourcing firms' clients would stretch to thousands of names. Here we can only list the best-known Hi-Tech firms and - with rare exceptions - include them in the list. Foreign government and inter-government organizations also look to Russian firms when ordering software development.

Russian companies like electronic-dictionary maker ABBYY, automated-translation system producer PROMT, and e-security firm Kaspersky Labs shift significant amounts of their boxed products on foreign markets, although they have relatively small marketing budgets.

Many firms have established themselves on the global market with software development and programming solutions. For example, the Tranzas group is one of the world's top producers of navigation systems, ship control systems, ship and aircraft simulators, and electronic maritime maps. Currently it accounts for about 30% of the global market for commercial ship simulators. C-Boss company from Moscow is also among the international leaders in their sector with 2500 people in the staff worldwide.
